Rogue Valley Family Fun Center
One of my favorite things to do in Medford is visiting the Rogue Valley Family Fun Center. You and your family can take the opportunity to ride go-karts, play mini-golf, be the captain of bumper boats, and have fun in the batting cages. If your family loves games, head to the arcade for hours of fun. You and your family can enjoy playing the latest and greatest arcade games for as little as a dollar.
Cactus Jack’s Playhouse is popular among younger children. This playhouse is three stories and features slides, tunnels to crawl through, and a toddler-only section to provide them with a safer space to explore. For just $5, your kiddos can enjoy an unlimited amount of play for the day. In addition, the Rogue Valley Family Fun Center includes a Snack Shack for you to visit if you and your kids work up an appetite.
If you’re looking for a fun place to host a birthday party, look no further! This fun center offers packages starting at $30 an hour with tables, napkins, and a side table for gifts and food. Pricing varies based on the activities you want to do, but bundle packages are available for savings if needed.
The Children’s Museum of Southern Oregon
Another one of my favorite things to do in Medford is visit The Children’s Museum of Southern Oregon. The Children’s Museum of Southern Oregon was founded in 1998 and encouraged kids to learn and grow through hands-on play! Admission for this location starts at $12 per child and is open from Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. through 5 p.m.
Explore an array of exhibits at this museum, such as Lyn’s Little Learners. This exhibit is dedicated to children from 0-3 years old and focuses on their ability to crawl, touch, look, and learn through play. This one is popular at a time when all of their senses are expanding. You can also visit The Makery exhibit. Here, you can push the boundaries of what defines art. Children guide their learning through exploring and tinkering with items to build things. The Gathering Grove offers a peaceful place to read, dance, and explore. The STEAM Forest, a family favorite, contains a water lab to explore water and its flow, a wind lab, a sound lab including an acoustic room with household items and ear protection for the kids, and a light lab to explore colors.
Crater Rock Museum
If your kids love dinosaurs, the Crater Rock Museum is the best thing to do in Medford. This location is a 12,000 ft museum home to exhibits, a community room, gift shop, and workshop. Explore different types of rocks, minerals, gems, the petrified woods, fossils, and much more. If you want to shop, the gift shop is filled with work from local artists from the Roxy Ann Gem & Mineral Society and rocks and minerals from around the world.
If you want someone to lead your day, you can only sign up for guided tours by appointment. Children under five years old enter for free, and admission for those above the age of five starts at just $5. The museum also hosts Kids Day every second Saturday of the month. This day exposes children to earth sciences, fossils, dinosaurs, and more. The event starts at 10:30 and ends at 3:30 p.m. Take advantage of the Rockyard for rock hunting and gemstone panning and participate in raffles and giveaways.
The RRRink
The RRRink opened in 1998 and is the only full-sized Ice arena open year-round in the Pacific Northwest. With 37,500 square feet of space, this rink is the home of many hockey leagues. It is also home to the Southern Oregon Figure Skating Club. The RRRink offers a snack bar, coffee bar, fireside observation room, party facilities, lock room, and seating for about 800 people. You can shop for skates and gear at the rink and even sign up for private lessons.
Ice skating is offered year-round, and you can sign up for instruction for ages three and above on Tuesday evenings. If your kiddos enjoy hockey more than skating, you can sign them up for an eight-week development program on Monday evenings. Summer camps are also available. Finally, if you’re looking for a fun place to host a birthday party, the rink offers three birthday party packages for 8, 9, or 14 guests, starting at $150.
